LG TwinWash Contest Innovates New Skills, Rewards Winners with Over N1m Prizes,Products

Technology innovative home appliance company, LG Electronics has changed the dance culture in Nigeria using its latest brand of washing machine, LG TwinWash to excite Nigerian youths to be creative in their dance style.

The brand did not using technology to make life good for Nigerian homes, the youths in a dance contest called the LG TwimWash Contest rewarded the dance groups that take in contest with prize money worth over a million Naira as well as the latest brands of the TwinWash machine and others of its technology innovative brands of washing machine.

At the TwinWash Dance Contest, which produced top 10 finalists through a social media competition and were made to battled one another for the big prizes; LG TWINWash and N500,000 for the 1st place winners, G+ Washing Machine for the 2nd place winners and Front Load Washing Machine for the 3rd place winners in Lagos created a new crop of technology dancers in the country.

The contest, a global initiative of the LG technology brand and a great improvement on its corporate social responsibility, (CSR), for the home appliances and electronics maker, LG Electronics saw three set of Nigerian youths performed to the admiration of the audience at the competition held in Ikoyi, Lagos, South West Nigeria.

The over three hours dance contest had as its judges, Head of Corporate Marketing Division, LG Electronics West Africa Operations, Mr Hari Elluru, and Nigeria’s dance queen, Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau (Kaffy), and produced two brothers, Calistus and Peter Uzodinma of the I AM FLY group the winners.

The excited brothers told TechnologyMirror in an interview that it took them just one night rehearse to prepare for the competition saying that before the competition they have attended dancing classes of a UK group currently in the country.

According to them they deploy their dancing skills to connect with the theme of the contest couple with their energy and oneness, which the judges saw to give them the winning thumb.

The brothers who were filled with joy said the prize from LG has excited to spread their skills and thank LG for the prize they got.
The three dance groups that emerged tops from the 10 finalists of the social media competition received N500,000, N399, 000, N200, 000 for the first, second and third winners respectively. These were in addition to the new LG TWINWash, G+ Washing Machine and Front Load Washing Machine.

Earlier before the contest began, General Manager, Home Appliance Division, LG Electronics, West Africa Operations, Mr Jiung Park said the contest is to enhance awareness for LG TWINWash Washing machine through a dance contest and to generate consumers’ interest towards the product by showcasing its unique benefits to consumers through dance contest.

According to him, “Life’s good with LG. We are not only committed to innovation for a better life or telling our brand stories but we also create beautiful experiences that would excite our customers through campaigns like the LG TWINWash Dance Contest.

“Life’s about more than having the latest electronics. It’s about the experiences technology creates. LG’s vision is to deliver innovative digital products and services that make your life better, easier and more comfortable”, Park added.

The company’s TWINWash Dance Contest consisted of five simple routines, each symbolizing a different feature of LG TWINWash; Separate Wash, Delicate Wash, Simultaneous Wash, Big Capacity, and TWIN Wash.

The fun, easy-to-follow dance encouraged maximum consumer participation and drew a clear parallel between the event and the LG TWINWash, a washing machine that keeps on running. The reach of the campaign was further expanded with many of the challenge participants actively sharing videos across social media.

This is what we try to replicate with this dance contest.”
