Nigeria’s Chief Telecoms Regulator to Speak on Diversifying Economy

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof Umar Garba Danbatta, is expected at Bayero University, (BUK), Kano, North Central, Nigeria to speak on how the nation’s economy could be diversified into the thriving telecommunications industry.
He will deliver the 23rd professorial inaugural lecture titled of “Getting out of Woods: “Diversifying the Nigerian Economy through Telecommunications Sector”,
Danbatta who is a professor of telecommunications engineering will at the old campus of the university on 2nd November address key players of the private and public sector of the economy as well as the academia.
While still in Kano, the chief telecoms regulator will speak at the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Kabuga Branch 1st Engineer IK Inuwa Annual Public Lecture on Saturday, November 4, 2017.
The EVC who is a strong advocate of the call for more attention to be paid to telecoms as a key drive of the Nigerian economy had at several forum called for an enabling environment that will make telecoms companies to thrive.
One such notable role that he has played was the stabilisation of Etisalat during its loan crisis with the banks and the respite offered MTN Nigeria in the payment of its sanction fees.
