Paradigm Initiative Unveils 2020 Program, Plans Platform to Report Digital Right Abuse


A platform that will enable citizens report cases of digital rights abuse across Nigeria is to be unveiled soon by Paradigm Initiative of Nigeria, a social enterprise that builds an ICT-enabled support system and advocates digital rights in order to improve livelihoods for under-served.


When operational, the platform will help relatives of the victims of digital rights abuse to raise the alarm and thereby initiate process for their release.

Speaking during a press conference at the unveiling of its 2020 activities in Lagos, South West Nigeria, Executive Director, PIN, Mr. Gbenga Sesan said the platform will also enhance PIN research and reporting work as well as evaluate what it is doing.

He disclosed that four regions of Nigeria, which covers seven states made of South West (Ekiti,Ogun, and Oyo), South-South (Bayelsa, South East (Ebonyi) and North West( Jigawa and Katsina)are targets of the digital inclusion program of Paradigm Initiative, LIFE.

He said that 290 young boys bad girls across its training centres will be exposed to digital skills.

According to him, a two weeks Girls’ Code Camp will also be organized across centres in Nigeria to help bridge the gender digital divide in Nigeria adding that other track of its digital Inclusion Program, the Dufuna Code Camp, a six-month hands-on project-centre software engineering training program will feature during the year.

He further revealed that PIN will be deepening its work in building the community digital rights advocates on the continent through capacity building program in about five countries in Africa adding that Digital Identity Ecosystem in Africa will be engaged to serve the interest of Africans.

As part of the Digital Identity Ecosystem in Africa PIN said that it will implement a pilot project advocating for data privacy rights, while in Nigeria, a platform for stakeholders’ engagement sessions in four states that ensures that the National Identity Management Commissions listens is expected to kick-off.
