The Nigeria Data Protection Commission may soon release fresh guidelines and regulations for various purposes in order to ensure a robust Data Protection culture in Nigeria.
The National Commissioner/CEO, Dr Vincent Olatunji who made this known during a ,consultative meeting with representatives of Data Protection Compliance Organisations (DPCOs) further said that the DPCOs have been identified as major partners in the registration process and other initiatives of the Commission.
Speaking at the virtual meeting, Olatunji emphasised the significant achievement of having about 163 DPCOs within a short period, stressed the importance of putting in place necessary measures and requesting input from DPCOs before commencing the registration of Data Controllers and Data Processors.
The meeting provided an opportunity to address questions and comments, ensuring the development of a well-constructed registration portal. The meeting was mainly to review the new registration portal for Data Controllers and Processors.
