By Vitel Wireless (Vitel) becomes the first Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in Nigeria to be assigned a mobile number series by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), marking a key milestone in the country’s telecoms industry.
According to the company, the assignment of mobile number series 0712 to Vitel Wireless represents a watershed moment in Nigeria’s expanding MVNO industry.
It said: “Historically, the Nigerian MVNO market has been tightly regulated, with only a few players entering under stringent licensing requirements.

Some of key milestones of Vitel include being issued by NCC its own international routing code, enabling international connectivity and positioning the company to offer global telecom services.
Also, Vitel said it has successfully met all government regulatory requirements, paving the way for a smooth market entry.
