Nigeria’s First Travel eSIM from MOSIM Set for Exploits, Targets Over 1.2 Million Travelers

MOSIM, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) supported by EMO MEDIA, has teamed with Tata Communications Services to introduce Nigeria’s first travel electronic SIM (e-SIM).

The e-SIM is scheduled to go live in the second quarter of 2025 for outbound Nigerian travellers.

Users will be exempt from roaming charges and will just have to pay for ‘competitively priced data packages’, said the company.

The coverage footprint will encompass popular Nigerian travel destinations such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada.

The MNVNO said the e-SIM launch is part of EMOSIM’s telecoms and connectivity services plan and the collaboration with Tata is in line with the West African country’s digitisation initiatives.

EMOSIM will deliver network services using Tata Communications’ MVNO technology infrastructure, which is considered to reflect a shared vision for digital inclusivity and technological growth that is consistent with Nigeria’s commitment to telecoms innovation.

Aditya Raj Khosla, EMOSIM’s chief commercial and operations officer, commented on the launch, saying: “EMOSIM’s borderless mobile experience is designed to cater to Nigeria’s growing community of frequent travellers, digital entrepreneurs, and remote workers, making global connectivity more accessible than ever before.”

Karn Gulati, CEO of EMOSIM, said the partnership is about the opportunity in the Nigerian market.

Gulati went on to say: “The MVNO licenses were introduced to reach the underserved market and ensure that the smartphone revolution does not leave any Nigerian behind. With Tata Communications as our strategic partners, we can fast-track digital adoption in Nigeria.

“The travel segment alone is incredibly promising: more than 1.2 million Nigerians travel out every year, making the travel e-SIM an ideal launch product.”
