By The National Information Technology and Development Agency (NITDA) has called on several organisations including Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to proactive steps to minimize the risk and impact to secure their ICT infrastructure.
NITDA gave the charge while reacting to the recent to the Cloudflare global service outage experienced in the mid-day of 18th November, 2025 recommending that it is essential that organisations take proactive steps to minimize the risk and impact of similar incidents in the future.
According to the recommendations, NITDA noted the need to strengthen resilience and ensure continuity of digital services, and advised organisations to implement the following preventive measures: Implement backup DNS resolvers (e.g., Google DNS, OpenDNS) and consider the use of dual DNS for all critical domains to ensure uninterrupted service resolution.
The recommendations which were drafted by the CERRT department of NITDA called for the use of multiple CDN that providers or failover configurations for major websites and services to reduce reliance on a single provider.
NITDA further urged organisations to ensure that servers can be accessed directly in case DN or proxy services fail, allowing critical systems to continue running saying they should maintain alternative access for staff, via VPNs, internal networks., or mirrored/offline resources, to keep critical operations running during outages.
“Keep up-to-date local copies of critical server IP addresses, DNS records, and configuration details to enable rapid recovery if needed”, said NITDA.
