The Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa, Mr segun Ogunsanya, has disclosed that plans are underway to set up Africa’s largest Data Center in Nigeria.
Ogunsanya made this known on Wednesday while interacting with State House Correspondents after his meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s FX policy saying it has eased massive issues confronting FX liquidity and created opportunities for better planning.
He explained that the Data Center will serve Multinational companies in Nigeria as well as other foreign countries.
“We’re always expanding our business we always invest in in the country. We’re gonna set up a new data center in the country.
“We’ve already bought the land will be ground breaking very soon is going to be one of the largest data centers in Africa that we’re going to put in Nigeria.
“The data center will be one of the largest data center in Africa,it is going to serve all the multinationals in the country. So it’s going to serve some of the Foreign countries , certainly it is going to be one of the largest in Africa.”
The Airtel CEO also disclosed that final budgeting for the establishment of the center was ongoing and that the commissioning of the location will hold soon.
“Though Airtel is yet to do final budgeting but we’ve got the land we’ve got the consultants, and we’re going to break ground very soon”.
On the FX , Ogunsanya said “we still have some issues with FX liquidity, but at least slightly more predictable than it was a couple of months ago. It makes it easier for us to do better planning.”
“The President said Nigerians should expect the best from his government,”he said.
