By Darey.io, a talent bridge tech hub with wide spread impact that has trained and empowered thousands of tech talents across Africa is set for unveiling in Lagos, South-west Nigeria.
Announcing the official launch of the tech hub today, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Darey.IO, Mr Dare Olufunmilayo revealed that the tech hub is spearheading the Nigeria Renewed Hope Agenda of three million tech talents skill empowerment initiative stating that the hub has start-of-the-act training facility adding that majority of the training is delivered digitally.
According to him, the new hub, which has partners such as the National Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is designed to drive digital transformation, foster collaboration, and provide startups, businesses, and individuals with AI-driven solutions and workforce development programs.
Olufunmilayo disclosed that the tech hub boasts of a lot of resources that are accessible besides a team of facilitators adding that startups don’t need to have any prerequisite skills before they can be part of a digital team at Dare.io
While describing tech hub as an excellence platform, he said that the hub offers opportunities to people with zero tech skills stressing that there is a lot of resources startups can access.
Giving insights into his tech journey so far, the founder, who has a United Kingdom tech industry experience also revealed that Dare.io has been building software in the last four and a half years.
He noted that when Dare.io started four and a half years ago, its focused was on skill area, which was DevOps saying that “there’s cloud computing as part of DevOps. (0:14) DevOps is actually why, but within it is cloud computing.”
He added: “So, this is the first time that we’re going to be having a physical location to drive our mission forward. And the reason why we established this company was the need for digital skills, upskilling, reskilling, and making people who want to be part of the technology field, give them the access to achieve that, regardless of their background.”
Speaking on how dynamic the tech industry has been evolving in such a fast pace, he said “We all know how things are changing rapidly. (0:41) Before we close our eyes and open it, everyone is talking about AI. And the next thing you’re hearing is, oh, AI is going to take your job away, and all these things happening.”
Harping on the value of Darey.io programmes, the CEO disclosed that anyone that had taken its course at that time would end up becoming a DevOps engineer, cloud engineer, science reliability engineer.
He said, “We were focused on that only for at least three years so that we can hone on our framework, because we have a unique framework that allows us to deliver this effectively. But in the last year, we have introduced more pathways, which now includes data science, data analysis, cybersecurity, product management.”
While explaining how far AI has impact several aspects of the global economy, Olufunmilayo stated that there is now “AI for legal, AI for health care, AI for, you know, you can think of any random, even for pressmen too. So at the end of the day, it’s being able to be more effective at the job that they do and using technology to drive that.”
While assuring of the quality of the training from the tech hub, Head of Growth and Marketing Operations, Priscilia Otukoya said, “If you have not been serious about learning, if you have not been coming to classes, if you have not been watching videos or doing their assignment project, it has an impact on the carriers calling it, get points in it.”
She added: “So these are things that we are putting in place to ensure that there is quality by the time you’re graduating with you.”
According to her, at the time completion of the training, all the scores, all the engagement, everything about the trainee would determine how much he or she has accomplished.
