By The Emir of Borgu Kingdom in Niger State, Mohammed Haliru Dantoro relives the good old days of the automobile industry in Nigeria as he tour the first Lagos Motor Show held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), which had on display cars of yester-years as well as latest hi-tech cars.
Dantoro who was at the fair to declare it open, said the organisers have made history in the exhibition of classic and vintage cars, including electric-powered motorbikes and vehicles, which according to him, most Nigerians of the current generation have not seen in their lifetime.
The 2024 Lagos Motor Show was an exhibition of Modern, Classic, Vintage Cars, Eco Friendly EV, Robotics and autonomous vehicles, Electric –Tricycles and E-mobility.
It also showcased new innovation and developments in the auto Industry such as Internet of Things (IoT) in automobiles, energy efficient cars, Electric Vehicles and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered low emission vehicles.
Reflecting on the journey towards hosting the event, the Chief Promoter, Engr. Ggbenga Adebayo, said: “Today we are making history by displaying our passion for motoring because we are a people with history. As a young undergraduate many years ago, I wrote articles about the future of motoring in Nigeria.”
According to him, the Lagos Motor Show is the dream of a group of car lovers, motor sports enthusiasts whose goal is to bring to the Nigerian motoring community, an auto show annually that would mirror Auto shows such as the annual Chicago Motor Show, Munich Auto show, Middle east, and Europe.
