Experts of NCC-Funded Research Project Develop Artificial Intelligence Device to Tackle QoS-Induced Problems

A group of don from the Federal University of Technology, Minna have developed  an artificial intelligence based portable device, in form of mobile phones, that is capable of providing seamless data and voice connections over the existing MNOs, as the solution to the QoS-induced problems which are experienced by mobile communication subscribers in Nigeria.

The research project which was fully funded by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) now provided subscribers with the privilege of enjoying good services from available operators without the added expenses of having more than one phone or a phone with multiple SIM slots.

The project, headed by Prof. Abiodun Musa Aibinu of FUT Minna, started from ground zero in 2013 with a team of about
twelve researchers comprising eight research fellows and four students with the finding a method of extracting appropriate information from SIM card, determining method of categorizing SIM card parameters, and determining relevant pin configuration for SIM Card switching.

According to report, published by the NCC and sighted by TechnologyMirror, the device guarantees all time access to networks with the best available signal strength and QoS, even while on transit on Nigerian highways and roads.

Aibinu while thanking the NCC for its  financial funding for the research said “we exhibited this research work at the Federal University of Technology, Minna saying that it would soon be completing the patent filing of the work.
