Foundation Harps on Quiz Contest Impact on Education, Rewards Students with Cash Prize

The Ola Olufunmilayo Foundation (OOF), is seeking for more quiz competition in Ogun State as a way of giving quality education to children from the state.

Speaking during the 2024 quiz contest organised by the Foundation in conjunction with Odogbolu Local Government Education Authority for primary schools in Odogbolu Local Government area of Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria, the Founder and Executive Director of the Foundation, Mr Ola Olufunmilayo noted that education is an instrument of economic empowerment and national development.

According to him, one of the national education goals is the acquisition of appropriate skills and development of mental, physical and social abilities and competence as equipment for the individual to live and contribute to the development of the society.

He said that the Foundation considers the competition as a development process and encouragement of excellence amongst primary school students who are the future leaders of this great nation.

He noted that the Foundation as an organisation championing the course of high value education for children in Ogun State, initiated the annual competition as a part of her corporate social responsibility to touch the lives of Nigerians in positive ways.

In his address, the Executive Secretary of Odogbolu Local Government Education Authority, Giwa Adekoya described the quiz competition as last-longing initiative that promotes intellectual development through healthy academic competition among primary school students and geared to boost their self-confidence.

Also speaking, the Chief Education Officer, Alhaja Rasaki said the competition “spurs children to study harder and live up to expectations in their academics. It helps to raise the standards of education in Odogbolu State Constituency.

She described the initiative as laudable and highly competitive urging the Foundation to sustain the competition as it builds the students academically to pass their internal and external examinations without stress.

The Winner: Moslem Primary School, Imodi

1st Runner-up: AUD Primary School, Ayepe

2nd Runner-up: ST! Peter Anglican Primary School, Imosa
