NITDA Mulls Fellowship Programme to Nurture Young Nigerians as Panacea for Leapfrogging Local Tech Challenges

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), plans to begin a fellowship programme to nurture young, talented individuals in developing digital solutions tailored to local challenges.

According to the Director General of NITDA, Mr Kashifu Inuwa, the fellowship would reduce dependence on external expertise saying that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing, and innovation as pathways to diversification.

He spoke at the grand finale of the five-day workshop titled “The Workshop of the Future,” where he delivered a thought-provoking keynote address.

The workshop, which centered on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing productivity across Agriculture, Health, Education, Energy, and Climate Change, emphasized design thinking as a key approach to problem-solving.

Organised by Futuremap Foundation in collaboration with NITDA, Jigawa ICT & Digital Economy, Cosmopolitan University, OpenSchool, and Huawei, the workshop underscored the importance of leveraging digital transformation and AI to tackle challenges in critical sectors.
