About 50 million Nigerians from the 774 local government in the country are to gain access to digital education in a project, Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL), an initiative of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The emblem for the initiative which was recently unveiled by the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago, alongside, Ayodele Olawande, State Minister of Youth Development; Engr Faruk Yusuf Yabo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy; Kashifu Inuwa, Director General of NITDA; and Brigadier General YD Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps was designed to reduce digital literacy by 70 percent before 2027.
The key component of the initiative is the strategic partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed, Director General of NYSC, has affirmed his commitment to leverage the energy and reach of corps members to provide nationwide training and sensitisation on digital skills within the communities they serve. Corp members will be instrumental in delivering digital literacy training, ensuring that every corner of the country is touched by the programme.

Inuwa reiterated that, the programme is part of the Agency’s efforts to achieve 70% digital literacy for all Nigerians by 2027, equip every Nigerian citizen with basic digital skills necessary to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.
And while paying courtesy visit to the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu to discuss collaboration, Inuwa further highlighted the goal of achieving 70% digital literacy in Nigeria by 2027, with NITDA’s Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) initiative aiming to train 50 million Nigerians.
Sununu expressed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the initiative, emphasising the inclusion of in-service teacher training and utilising teachers in all the 774 LGAs for wider outreach.
The Minster directed that a Technical Working Group (TWG) should be established immediately, and all relevant MDAs should be co-opted for optimal results.
