Former Head of Sales for the Middle East & Africa at Meta, Mrs Nkechi Egerton-Idehen is now the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT), her appointment came on the heels of a significant reshuffle within the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
The official statement was released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, under the title “President Tinubu appoints new leadership across the communications, innovation, and digital economy sectors.”
According to the statement, she will assume her new role immediately, succeeding Engineer Tukur Mohammed Lawal Funtua, who took over as NIGCOMSAT’s CEO in December 2022.
Before the appointment, she had played a vital role within the executive leadership team at Ericsson Ghana and Liberia, where she managed the account teams for Ericsson in both countries.
Furthermore, her prior roles include an Acting Customer Team Head role at MTN Nigeria and serving as the Country Manager in Nigeria and the Regional Sales Manager in West Africa for Avanti Communications. With over two decades of experience in telecommunications, Nkechi brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.
Nkechi Egerton-Idehen’s educational background is equally impressive. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Warwick. Additionally, she has completed executive education programmes at Harvard Business School and Yale School of Management.
