By The Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC), is excited about the great success it has in Nigeria and internationally recorded in the last two years of its establishment despite the fact that it is not a revenue marking Commission
NDPC is a Federal Government organ of the Nigerian charged with the responsibility of personal data and sensitive personal data of all citizens.
The National Commissioner of NDPC, Dr Vincent Olatunji in virtual press conference attended by TechnologyMirror revealed that through the NDPC activities, Nigeria has been put on the global map of data privacy sparking international attention on the data privacy ecosystem of Nigeria.
According to him, the NDPC besides creating over 23,000 jobs within the ecosystem, it has also generated revenue of about N7.2 billion.
He however noted that the NDPC is not a revenue generating agency of Government adding that it was setup for the good of the citizens.
Olatunji who spoke to journalists on the sideline of a capacity building for the media noted that the positive strides in strengthening Nigeria’s data protection landscape, with capacity building emerging as a key pillar of its impact within just two years of operation.
According to him, the past two years was a period of steady growth, learning, and international recognition, driven largely by deliberate investments in capacity development across the data protection ecosystem
