A new board of directors have taken the management of Etisalat Nigeria following the restructuring of the company and the subsequent resignation of the erstwhile founding chairman, Hakeem Belo-Osagie. Belo-Osagie who had chaired the board since inception of the company had to step down after the restructuring of the telecommunication company, a development which is expected bring a new life into the company. The management of the company in a statement said that Belo-Osagie had planned to leave immediately the banks made the take-over move; he opted to tarry until a road map for the company was finalised. “The timing of the resignation was strategically delayed till now when stakeholders have agreed a plan and comes more than a week after Mubadala Development Company directors tendered their resignation,” the company read. The company said that the development also reflects Belo-Osagie’s deep commitment to protecting the interest of all stakeholders. The latest development could be attributed to the efforts of the , from regulatory agencies, including the Nigeria Communications commission (NCC) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other stakeholders. The Chairman of the Association License Telecommunications Company of Nigeria, (ALTON), Engr. Gbenga Adebayo had today in a media chat with technology reporters said that every stakeholders is concerned about the plight of Etisalat since its present crisis could happen to any operators. The respite which came the way of the operator from stakeholders captured the interest of all in the growth of the telecoms industry in Nigeria.
