By The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa held talks with the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Engr. Nadungu Gagare ahead of full implementation the year 2026 initiatives of NITDA.
The session provided a strategic overview of NITDA’s evolution since its establishment in 2001 and reaffirmed its alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through the Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan 2024–2027, (SRAP 2.0) built around eight strategic pillars aimed at inclusive economic growth and digital transformation.
The briefing highlighted key performance milestones, including progress in digital literacy and talent development through initiatives such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, improvements in Nigeria’s global AI ranking from 85th to 69th, and the completion of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.
Updates were also provided on policy and regulatory achievements, covering cloud sovereignty, data localisation, e-invoicing, and cybersecurity collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, alongside the launch of the National Digital Trust Map Portal and ongoing implementation of the Nigerian Startup Act through startup labelling and ecosystem support.
Operational and financial updates formed a critical part of the engagement, with NITDA reporting compliance with all statutory and fiscal obligations and ongoing reporting to oversight bodies.
